IGC ION GAUGE CONTROLLER
5 × 10-3 TO 2 × 10-11 mbar

The BOC Edwards Ion Gauge Controller (IGC) provides all the power, control and signal conditioning required to run one or two ion gauge heads. When connected to a BOC Edwards Active Gauge Controller (AGC) the user has full control of the ion gauge functions from the AGC front panel. This includes features such as automatic emission current selection and interlock with other gauge types. Alternatively, the IGC can be linked directly to a control system such as a PLC to give the OEM or system builder direct access to control inputs and signal outputs.

Features & benefits
• Wide measurement range
- Electron beam degas versions: 5 x10-3 to 2 x 10 11 mbar
• Selection of head available
- Choice of electron beam degas, nude or glass encapsulated, tungsten or thoriated iridium filaments

• Flexible cabling system
- lon gauge cables are available in 2 and 3m lengths including bakeable
versions. Active gauge cables to link IGC and AGC are available in lengths up to 100 m.
• Vacuum interlock through an auxiliary high pressure gauge
- To protect the ion gauge from accidental operation at high pressure it can be interlocked through an Active Pirani or thermocouple gauge connected to the IGC or AGC
• Ratiomatic measurement system
- Improved measurement accuracy
- Allows soft start on filament power-up giving an added degree of filament protection
• Choice of BOC Edwards interface or parallel command and status port (PCSP)
- Allows connection to BOC Edwards Active Gauge Controller
- PCSP: 15 way D-type connector giving access to all control input and signal outputs
TIC instrument controller

A compact instrument controller with a large clear graphical display, an intuitive user interface and serial communications providing full remote control and data logging functions via a new WindowsTM based PC program.
The controller supports and automatically recognizes up to three gauges from the BOC Edwards range (excluding IGC and Barocels), with coverage from 2000 to 6.6 x 10-10 mbar. Low pressure gauges may be controlled and protected by high pressure gauges and there are three open collector
set point outputs.
An optional relay box uses these outputs to control three 250 V a.c. 3 A changeover relays.
The TIC instrument controller may be either rack or bench mounted and provides a useful hub for the flexible operation of a wide range of vacuum system configurations.

Features & benefits

Universal vacuum gauge controller
• TIC automatically recognizes and controls up to three active gauges including Pirani, linear Pirani, thermocouple, strain, inverted magnetron, wide range and active ion gauges.
AGC ACTIVE GAUGE CONTROLLERS

The Active Gauge Controller (AGC) is the world’s first truly universal intelligent vacuum gauge controller. Models are available to drive three or six active gauges of any type. There are versions available with either a single or triple pressure display as well as versions which accommodate capacitance manometers. Control functions are set using a simple menu system and are retained after switching off the power. Full remote control or simple data logging is possible using the RS232 interface and a WindowsTM based software driver is available.

Features & benefits
• Universal vacuum gauge controller
- Can drive any combination of BOC Edwards Active gauges including Pirani, linear Pirani, thermocouple, strain, inverted magnetron, wide range gauge and ion gauges as well as optional capacitance manometer support
• Relay options
- All models have six solid state switches rated at 40 V d.c. 100 mA. There is also a choice of an internal card with six changeover relays rated at 240 V 3 A, or an external DIN rail mounted module with six 240 V 5 A relays
• Automatic range switching and gauge protection
- Two or more heads which cover particular pressure ranges may be linked to give automatic continuous indication over their combined pressure ranges. This feature also protects gauges that would otherwise be damaged if switched on at high pressures
• Automatic identification of gauge head type
- Simply plugging in the gauge allows automaticidentification and range scaling
• Remote control
- Full remote control of all AGC functions or simple data logging of pressures is available through the RS232 option. A Windows based software driver is available which allows the AGC to communicate with a wide range of Windows based software packages such as spreadsheets, databases graphical display/control systems etc
• Capacitance manometer versions
- Capacitance manometers requiring a ± 15 V power supply (BOC Edwards 600 series Barocels) should be used with CM versions of the Active Gauge Controller. A maximum of three such heads can be connected as well as all types of Active auge
• Universal power supply operation
- The AGC will accept voltages between 90 and 265 V and frequencies between 45 and 70 Hz without the need for user adjustment
